Algérie : Eni rencontre la SONATRACH pour discuter de la production et de l'exportation de gaz

Le PDG d’ Eni In Algiers, Claudio Descalzi met Algeria's Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and the new CEO of SONATRACH, Rachid Hachichi, to discuss gas production and exports, investment in the country and energy transition initiatives.

Eni and SONATRACH have shared joint programmes for the development of gas production operated by Eni, as well as the export of gas and LNG to Europe.

Mr Descalzi also updated the Minister on the progress of the Memoranda of Intent (MoI) signed by Eni and SONATRACH last January. The MoI on upstream decarbonisation has propelled several activities, including the detection of fugitive gas emissions in pipelines and plants and the identification of flaring opportunities in SONATRACH fields. As part of the existing cooperation, the parties also discussed other energy transition initiatives, including renewable energies, hydrogen and the electricity interconnection between Algeria and Europe.

Eni has been present in Algeria since 1981. With a net production of around 130,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2023, Eni is the largest international company operating in the country.
