The departure ceremony for the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit Tango and the floating storage unit Excalibur (FSU) took place on Saturday to mark the departure of the vessels from Dubai to Congo, where they will serve Eni's Congo LNG project, the first phase of which is due to start up in December 2023.

Tango FLNG, which has a liquefaction capacity of around 1 billion cubic metres of gas per year, will be moored 3 kilometres offshore with the Excalibur FSU when they arrive in Congo.

EXMAR is the engineering, procurement and conversion (EPC) contractor for this project, and has designed the mooring system and carried out the refurbishment of both vessels at the Dry Docks World yard in Dubai.

Eni's Congo LNG project exploits Marine XII's gas resources and existing production facilities as part of a new phased approach aimed at achieving zero gas flaring.

EXMAR built and formerly owned Tango FLNG (now owned by Eni), is supplying Excalibur FSU on a long-term charter and will be responsible for all terminal operations for the Congo LNG project.
