The Lekki refinery, near Lagos, will ship an inaugural shipment of 60,000 tonnes of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as Mogas, to Cameroon. This fuel, widely used to power vehicles and generators, will meet the growing demand for energy in the region.
For Aliko Dangote, founder of the refinery, this agreement represents a major opportunity to promote intra-African trade in natural resources. "We are proud to contribute to Africa's energy self-sufficiency while strengthening trade relations between our countries," he said.
With some forty service stations across Cameroon, Neptune Oil is already the third largest player in the downstream segment, behind TotalEnergies and Tradex. This new agreement with Dangote Refinery consolidates its strategic position as the main importer of refined products from the Lekki refinery.
Neptune Oil's objective is clear: to diversify its sources of supply to ensure greater resilience in the face of fluctuations in the global market. "This partnership with Dangote Refinery is essential for the energy future of Cameroon and the sub-region," said a company representative.
The partnership between Neptune Oil and Dangote Refinery reflects a shared vision for the future: to strengthen the continent's energy security while meeting the growing needs of its people and industries. By forging closer ties with one of the largest refining infrastructures in Africa, Neptune Oil intends to play a leading role in the region's economic and energy development.
This strategic partnership is a promising step forward for the African economy, symbolising a successful collaboration between two major players in the energy sector.
