Libya: The Shadar oil field enables the country to increase its hydrocarbon production

Libya's state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced the official start of production at the Shadar oil field (NC-126) in north-eastern Libya. This achievement, supported by its subsidiary Zallaf Oil and Gas Exploration, Production and Refining Company, marks an important step in efforts to develop the country's energy resources.

On its first day of operation, the Shadar oil field produced 1,500 barrels of crude oil per day, along with more than 7.5 million cubic feet of associated gas from the A1/A well.

In a statement issued on the occasion, the NOC hailed the launch as "a significant achievement... aimed at reinforcing the National Oil Corporation's plan to increase production to support the national economy."

Created in 2013 and officially authorised by the NOC in 2017, Zallaf Oil and Gas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the NOC. Its mission is to develop discovered but as yet untapped oil and gas fields, thereby helping to increase Libya's energy production capacity.

This success is part of the NOC's ongoing efforts to revitalise the country's energy sector, an essential pillar of the national economy. By boosting oil and gas production, the company also hopes to attract new investment and ensure greater stability in a still-fragile economic and political context.

The commissioning of the Shadar field demonstrates the NOC's commitment to the efficient and sustainable exploitation of Libya's natural resources, while pursuing long-term strategic objectives aimed at diversifying and stabilising the national economy.
