QatarEnergy has reached an agreement with Shell to acquire a 40% working interest in Block C-10 offshore Mauritania.
Under the terms of the agreement, and subject to customary approvals by the Mauritanian government, QatarEnergy will hold a 40% working interest in the exploration and production agreement for Block C-10. Shell (the operator) will hold a 50% interest, while Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH) will hold a 10% interest.

Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Ministre d’État aux Affaires énergétiques, Président et PDG de QatarEnergy, a déclaré : « Nous sommes ravis de l’opportunité de participer au secteur en amont de la Mauritanie qui s’appuie davantage sur notre empreinte d’exploration en Afrique, et nous attendons avec impatience un programme d’exploration réussi. »

Block C-10 covers a total area of approximately 11,500 square kilometres and is located approximately 50 kilometres off the coast of Mauritania in water depths of approximately 50 to 2,000 metres.
