Mining Indaba 2025: towards a unified African mining value chain

Investing in African Mining Indaba 2025 will host an exclusive ministerial symposium, known as the "Official Meeting of African Mining Ministers". More than 25 government ministers will come together to engage in constructive dialogue and foster strategic partnerships, strengthening the African continent's position in the global minerals market.
This symposium will introduce new round tables and breakout sessions inspired by the United Nations, allowing for more in-depth interaction. These deliberations aim to define concrete commitments to sustain Africa's mineral industry, strengthen its role in the global value chain and maximise the economic benefits derived from its natural resources.
Moderated by selected experts, discussions will focus on improving the efficiency of mining permits, developing local processing capacity and optimising the economic benefits for local communities. With around 30% of the world's mineral reserves, Africa is a key player in the global energy transition.
Ministers from the main producing countries, including South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria and Angola, will share their progress on mineral regulation and local participation. The symposium will highlight best practice in licensing, sustainable resource management and local processing of minerals to boost national economies.
As the global supply chain evolves towards more sustainable practices, Africa has the opportunity to unify its strategies and strengthen its contribution to global development. The focus will be on environmentally-friendly extraction methods, while maximising the economic benefits for local populations.
The symposium will take place in a larger space, facilitating intergovernmental exchanges and highlighting national initiatives. New investment forums and national showcases will be set up to meet the expectations of ministers, government agencies and industry leaders. This expansion reflects the growing participation of public and private players, essential to finding innovative solutions for the African mining sector.
This high-level event demonstrates a commitment to showcasing Africa's mineral wealth and positioning the continent as a key player in future global supply chains.
