Nigeria: Total Energies obtains 20-year license renewal on offshore block

French oil major TotalEnergies, operator of the OML130 offshore licenses in Nigeria, confirmed on Monday that it has been awarded a 20-year renewal of the production license for this offshore block.

Located 150 kilometers off the Nigerian coast, Block OML130 contains the prolific Akpo and Egina fields, which came on stream in 2009 and 2018 respectively. 

Production from Akpo West, a short-cycle project, is scheduled to begin by the end of 2023. In addition, OML130 contains the Preowei discovery, which will be developed by tie-in to the Egina FPSO.

TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited operates OML 130 with a 24% interest, in partnership with CNOOC (45%), Sapetro (15%), Prime 130 (16%) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd as PSC concessionaire.

"In 2022, production will amount to 282 000 bep/j Nearly 30% was gas sent to the Nigeria LNG plant, contributing to Europe's energy security," adds TotalEnergies.
