Senegal is studying the possibility of linking the GTA project to a power plant in Saint-Louis.

The process of exploiting our hydrocarbons, planned for the last quarter of 2023, is progressing well. The national structure Réseau gazier du Sénégal is studying the possibility of linking the GTA gas field to a power station in Saint-Louis via a pipeline.

The Réseau gazier du Sénégal (RGS), created in May to coordinate the deployment of a pipeline network in the country, is headed by the former head of Petrosen E&P, geological engineer Joseph Medou. In detail, this 100-kilometre gas pipeline project comprises about 15 km offshore and 85 km onshore. It will enable Senegal to transport gas from GTA to the Gandon power plant. The volumes will come from the share of production reserved for the national company Petrosen in the GTA share.

The Technical Secretariat of the National Committee for Monitoring Local Content (ST-CNSCL), the body responsible for regulating local content in Senegal, was entrusted with monitoring this call for expressions of interest. No company in the country has the technical and financial capacity to carry out the offshore part of the pipeline. The candidates will therefore have to join forces with foreign companies. The Russian pipeline specialist TMK has already been approached by local players during the Africa Oil Week conference held in Cape Town from 4 to 7 October 2022.
