Sénégal - Mauritanie : Le FPSO poursuit son voyage vers GTA

The FPSO, which left Singapore last week, will serve Phase 1 of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project on the maritime border of the two countries.

Last week, the FPSO for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas project left Singapore to continue its journey to the coasts of Mauritania and Senegal, Kosmos Energy announced. The FPSO will serve the site for Phase 1 of the GTA project, on the maritime border of the two countries, currently under development. It is expected to produce about 2.3 million tons of LNG per year when operations begin.

The FPSO set sail on January 20, 2023 from Qidong, China, after successfully completing a series of sea trials following its construction over the past three and a half years. It will now travel 12,000 nautical miles via Singapore to its final destination, about 40 km off the maritime border of neighboring countries.

The FPSO, which will be moored at a water depth of approximately 120 meters, will accommodate up to 140 people on board during regular operations and will serve as the home of the project's production team. With an area equivalent to two soccer fields and 10 stories in height, the FPSO consists of more than 81,000 tons of steel, 37,000 meters of pipe spools and 1.52 million meters of cable. It has also undergone more than 330,000 inspections.
