Senegal: Réseau Gazier and the Sicilsaldo / MICOPERI Srl / Enereco consortium sign the EPC-F contract for the gas pipeline

Réseau Gazier du Sénégal (RGS) has taken a decisive step forward in the development of its national infrastructure with the official signing of the EPC-F (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Financing) contract for the implementation of the Northern Segment of the gas pipeline. The contract, signed with the Sicilsaldo Group / MICOPERI Srl / Enereco S.p.A. consortium, marks the operational launch of a strategic project to link the GTA Hub to the country's industrial and energy hubs.
Launched following an open call for tenders in October 2024, this contract represents the first stage in the construction of the national natural gas pipeline network. The Northern Segment, the first phase of this vast project, forms the basis of an infrastructure that will transform access to energy in Senegal. By linking the gas resources of the GTA Hub to industrial and energy zones, this pipeline will meet the growing need for clean, reliable energy.
As well as building infrastructure, the project embodies Senegal's ambitions in terms of sustainable development and operational excellence. The RGS and its partners are committed to meeting rigorous standards, including :
- Compliance with international construction standards to guarantee the quality and durability of the facilities;
- Compliance with environmental, social and safety standards, with particular attention to minimising ecological impact and protecting local communities;
- Preparing for safe and sustainable operation, for reliable natural gas transmission over the long term;
- Promoting local content, making the most of Senegalese skills and companies, thereby encouraging employment and the transfer of know-how.
The Northern Segment is just the first link in a structured national network designed to extend through the Green, Blue, Orange and Red Segments. These future phases will enable natural gas to be transported across the whole of Senegal, reinforcing access to affordable and sustainable energy for industries, households and regions.
The signing of this agreement marks a turning point in Senegal's quest for energy sovereignty. By drawing on its gas resources, the country is laying the foundations for a more competitive and environmentally-friendly economy. Réseau Gazier du Sénégal, with the support of its international and local partners, is committed to making this project a model of excellence and innovation.
