Senegal: Sangomar exceeds 16.9 million barrels of oil by 2024

In December 2024, the Sangomar oil site, located off the coast of the Casamance region, reached a crucial stage in its development with the commissioning of all its producing wells. Now fully operational, this strategic project is establishing itself as a major player in the global oil industry thanks to its optimised infrastructure and record production.

With all its wells connected to the production lines, the Sangomar site is now capable of achieving an impressive capacity of 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day. In December, the site demonstrated its efficiency with a total production of 2.96 million barrels, a figure that illustrates the performance of its extraction and management processes.

Alongside this record production, Sangomar made three international shipments during the month, representing a total of 2.94 million barrels shipped to world markets. These exports confirm the project's strategic role in global energy supply and in generating strong revenues for its operators and the region.

Over the full year 2024, the Sangomar site produced around 16.9 million barrels, well above the initial target of 11.7 million barrels. This exceptional performance testifies to the robustness of the infrastructure, the expertise of the operating teams and the effectiveness of the strategies implemented to optimise production.

Over and above the figures, Sangomar is establishing itself as a major economic lever for the Casamance region and for Senegal as a whole. This flagship project contributes to local economic development by creating jobs, transferring skills and injecting income into communities.

On the international stage, Sangomar reinforces Senegal's strategic position as a key supplier of crude oil, while meeting growing global demand. With its high production capacity and optimised management, the site is a key player in the oil sector, ready to meet the energy challenges of tomorrow.

On the strength of these results, Sangomar is well on the way to continuing to maximise its production and maintain its competitiveness on the global market. The exceptional performance recorded in 2024 confirms not only the long-term viability of this project, but also its central role in international energy supply.

With its fully exploited production capacity and high-performance infrastructure, Sangomar is a model of success in the oil industry, combining innovation, efficiency and a contribution to sustainable development.
