Senegal has once again made its mark at the Cape Town Convention Centre. The Senegalese Chamber of Mines (CMDS) has successfully concluded its participation in the 2026 edition of Investing in African Mining Indaba, the world's largest event dedicated to mining investment on the continent.
The Senegalese delegation was led by Mr Ousmane Mbaye, President of the CMDS, accompanied by Ms Maty N’DOME, member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the institution's Communication and Public Relations Committee.
This dual presence, combining institutional leadership and expertise in strategic communication, underscores the Chamber's desire to ensure not only strong political representation, but also increased visibility for the reforms and opportunities offered by Senegal's subsoil.
At the heart of discussions with investors, decision-makers and international institutions, the CMDS conveyed a clear message: Senegal is a land of responsible investment, attractive and focused on creating sustainable value.
"Our participation in Mining Indaba is not limited to a simple diplomatic presence. It is a proactive approach to strengthening dialogue with global players and demonstrating that the Senegalese mining model combines economic performance with positive social impact," the delegation emphasised.
The numerous bilateral meetings helped to consolidate strategic partnerships and draw attention to the country's still untapped potential, while reaffirming the commitment of local private operators to inclusive industrial development.
Buoyed by the convincing results achieved this year, the CMDS has no intention of stopping there. The institution has officially announced that Senegal plans to participate on a massive and enhanced scale in the next edition of Mining Indaba.
This future mobilisation envisages increased synergy between public (state) and private actors, a focus on local SMEs/SMIs to promote local content, and large-scale logistical and communication efforts to definitively establish Senegal's leadership in the West African mining landscape.
Through this success in Cape Town, the Senegalese Chamber of Mines reaffirms its role as an essential platform for dialogue and advocacy, more than ever at the service of the emergence of the national mining sector.
