Mining company Marula Mining PLC announced on Tuesday a "compelling near-term production opportunity" in South Africa, following a recent site visit by its executives to the Northern Cape Lithium & Tungsten Pty Ltd (NCLT) project.
Marula Mining, a London-based company with operations in South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania, sent executive chairman Richard Lloyd, managing director Jana van Wyk and metals trading and commodities sales consultant Richard Hawken to investigate the potential of the project in the Namaqualand district of the Northern Cape province.
Covering 15,000 hectares, the site is located to the north of the existing Blesberg mine. An inspection of the Kaalbeen West tungsten deposit, located 2.3 kilometres north-west of the main Kaalbeen mine, revealed several sets of large tungsten-rich veins.
Richard Lloyd said: "Our recent visit to the NCLT project site has reinforced our confidence in the significant potential of this acquisition. The presence of high-grade tungsten mineralisation, both in the historic mines and in surface stockpiles, provides a promising near-term production opportunity, with a clear target of resumption of mining activities later in 2025."
Last Tuesday, Marula Mining published the results of analyses carried out on its Kinusi copper mine, located in the Mpwapwa district of the Dodoma region in Tanzania. The analyses revealed an average copper content of 19.72%, with individual samples showing concentrations ranging from 14.78% to 22.56%.
Managing Director Jason Brewer was delighted with the results: "These analyses confirm the quality of the copper concentrates we have ready to market at Kinusi. We are consistently getting high grade results, which is enabling us to accelerate our initial sales. I look forward to finalising these transactions and confirming receipt of the corresponding revenues."
Despite these positive developments, Marula Mining shares were down 3.0% on Tuesday afternoon, trading at 5.64 pence on the Aquis Exchange in London.
These strategic advances by Marula Mining illustrate its commitment to developing its mining activities in Africa and strengthening its position in the strategic metals market.
