Mamadou Diop, a rising star in the oil, gas and energy sector, is continuing to develop in this strategic area by joining the Wise Lab team as Director of Strategy and Development. With a wealth of experience in the sector, notably at Invest In Africa (IIA), where he played a central role in supporting local and international companies in the energy sector, Diop has established himself as a key player in local content in Senegal. His ability to help companies win contracts, access finance and training, and comply with international standards, makes him a recognised and respected expert.

Mamadou Diop has made a name for himself by helping local companies in the oil and gas sector to develop their skills. Thanks to his work, many Senegalese SMEs have been able to align themselves with international standards, become leaders in their field and integrate more deeply into the oil and gas value chain. Today, Wise Lab, a company specialising in engineering services and cutting-edge technical solutions for the energy sector, is very fortunate to be able to benefit from his unique expertise and influential network.

Mamadou Diop's impressive track record earned him an invitation to the Senegal-Mauritania Economic Forum (FESM), a crucial event for the economic and energy development of both countries. He received encouragement from leading political figures such as Birame Souleye Diop, Minister of Energy, Oil and Mines, and Tidjani Thiam, Minister of Mines and Industry. This recognition underlines the importance of its role in the West African energy landscape and its commitment to the sustainable development of this sector.

Speaking at FESM, Mamadou Diop highlighted the need to create synergies between foreign investors and local companies. In his view, the integration of local SMEs into major oil and gas projects is essential to guarantee a long-term transfer of skills. He said:

"We want to make sure that local businesses also get their share of the oil and gas. So we welcome any international company that wants to come and create joint ventures with local SMEs, which will lead to a transfer of knowledge, because it's absolutely essential that local SMEs also have the capacity, in 5 to 10 years' time, to stand on their own two feet. We welcome investors coming to Senegal, because this is a very new sector for all of us, and they will certainly need the expertise and experience of the oil and gas industry, as well as their know-how. And finally, at some point in the long term, Senegal will be in a position to grab the ball and run with it.

The addition of Mamadou Diop to the team adds a new dimension to this ambition, paving the way for new strategic collaborations with local and international companies. Enthusiastic about these future opportunities, Mamadou Diop is resolutely optimistic about the future of the sector.

"With operations in Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Canada, France and a recently opened subsidiary in Mauritania, we excel in providing high-level engineering and technical services to the oil and gas sector and industry as a whole. We look forward to working with local and international partners to deliver impactful projects in Senegal's energy sector," he added enthusiastically.

Thanks to players like Mamadou Diop, Senegal is gradually positioning itself as a key oil and gas hub in West Africa. By promoting the development of partnerships between local and international companies, Diop is actively contributing to a future in which Senegalese SMEs are ready to take over the management of oil and gas projects.
