Italian oil services giant Saipem has won two new contracts in Ivory Coast with a total value of around one billion euros.

The contracts were awarded by the ENI Ivory Coast-Petroci consortium for the Baleine Phase 1 project, for the development of the oil and gas field offshore Côte d'Ivoire located at a water depth of 1,200 m.

The Baleine discovery represents the country's largest commercial discovery in the last 20 years and is expected to contribute to power generation in Ivory Coast. Saipem contributed to the discovery of the field through the activities of the Saipem 10000 and Saipem 12000 drillships.

The first contract covers the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) and an onshore pipeline for connection to the distribution system.

The offshore installation of flexible lines, risers and umbilicals will be performed by the Saipem FDS2 vessel  and project development will be on an accelerated basis. The start of operations is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.

The second contract covers the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities related to the Florence FPSO, as well as 10 years of operation and maintenance services of the vessel.
