La Mauritanie met en lumière ses opportunités gazières aux États-Unis

Mauritania took part in the prestigious Gastech Exhibition & Conference in Houston, USA, bringing together the world's leading gas and energy players. The event was attended by government delegations and major companies from around the world.

Led by the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mohamed Ould Khaled, the Mauritanian delegation included advisors and managers from the energy sector, as well as representatives from Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH) and Agence de Promotion des Investissements de Mauritanie (APIM). Among the companies present, Meen & Meen, represented by Ahmed Mbaye, shone particularly brightly at this international event.

The conference, under the theme "Harnessing the potential and opportunities of natural gas to accelerate economic growth", took place over four days, covering crucial topics such as gas exploitation, energy transition and green hydrogen.d

Through this participation, Mauritania seeks to promote its vast capacities in the energy field, in particular the potential of its coastal basin, whose geological data reveal a promising wealth in terms of exploration and extraction. The Bir Allah field, with an estimated reserve of 60,000 billion cubic feet of natural gas, is one of the country's main assets in the hydrocarbon sector.

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum's agenda included high-level meetings with several influential figures from the energy industry, including Geoffrey Pyatt, US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Mike Wirth, CEO of Chevron, and Abdul Karim Al-Ghamidi, Head of Gas at Saudi Aramco. Ould Khaled also took part in a ministerial session entitled "Policy innovation to facilitate the decarbonization of energy markets", alongside his counterparts from the USA, Nigeria, Egypt, Germany and other nations, as well as executives from major oil companies such as Woodside and Wood Mackenzie.

The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, in collaboration with SMH, has set up a dedicated pavilion to represent Mauritania and attract the attention of players and investors interested in opportunities in the energy sector.

This conference represents an exceptional opportunity for Mauritania to strengthen its international partnerships and promote its natural gas and green hydrogen assets, thus attracting new investments that are vital to the country's economic development.
