Algeria: Sonatrach to deliver 2 million tonnes of LNG to TotalEnergies
At a ceremony held in Algiers, the Sonatrach Group, Algeria's national hydrocarbon company, and TotalEnergies, a leading French energy company, formally ratified a Memorandum of Understanding to finalize a hydrocarbon exploitation contract in the northeast Timimoun region. This initiative falls within the framework of Law n°19-13 governing hydrocarbon activities in Algeria.
This protocol provides for the development and implementation of a comprehensive program of work to evaluate and optimize the gas resources of the Timimoun northeast region. Particular attention will be paid to the efficient use of processing infrastructures already operational for the Timimoun field, with the aim of reducing both operational costs and the environmental emissions associated with these activities.
Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, TotalEnergies disclosed details of the quantity of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to be supplied by Sonatrach in 2025, in line with the commitments previously agreed between the two parties.
