Guinea Bissau : AGR wins contract to manage offshore wells

AGR has secured a well management agreement with Apus Energia Guinea-Bissau SA for deepwater exploratory drilling in the Sinapa concession offshore Guinea-Bissau, with drilling operations scheduled to start in summer 2024.

The Ocean BlackRhino ultra-deepwater drillship has been selected by Apus Energia Guinée-Bissau SA for their future drilling campaign.

AGR's responsibilities will be handled by its well project management team located in Perth, Western Australia. AGR will provide expertise in well construction, drilling engineering, logistics, supply chain management and oversight of drilling operations.

Earlier in the year, AGR became part of the ABL Group, an Oslo-listed international energy, marine and engineering consultancy. The acquisition enabled AGR to join forces with Add Energy, another of the ABL Group's specialist well engineering entities, forming the largest specialist well engineering, drilling and technical risk management consortium in the industry, offering integrated services across the entire well lifecycle.

Lynden Duthie, Managing Director of Well Management at AGR, expressed his enthusiasm at the prospect of working on this major project in West Africa, reflecting the company's commitment to operational excellence. He emphasized that the contracts recently won confirm their position as a world leader in well management and associated services. He looks forward to bringing AGR's expertise to this project and consolidating their position in the sector.

For his part, Eyas Alhomouz, CEO of Apus Energy, welcomed the addition of AGR to their drilling and wells team, anticipating the drilling of a promising well in the southern part of the MSGBC basin, an area with high hydrocarbon potential. He hopes that this project will lay the foundations for a fruitful and lasting collaboration with the ABL Group.
