Senegal officially joined the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) as an observer member at the ministerial meeting held in Algiers on March 1, 2024. This membership marks a historic step for the country, which is preparing to exploit its significant natural gas resources.

A new chapter for Senegal's gas industry

The GECF is an intergovernmental organization comprising 19 member countries and 7 observer countries. Its mission is to promote cooperation between natural gas exporting countries and defend their interests on the international stage. By joining the GECF, Senegal intends to benefit from the experience and know-how of other forum members in the field of natural gas production, management and marketing.
