Nigeria: NNPC to use local anti-theft systems to monitor pipeline
La société d’État Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) et le Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) installeront des systèmes de surveillance intégrés antivol sur les pipelines pour surveiller le vol de pétrole brut, a déclaré le journal The Punch.
Nigeria has lost billions of dollars over the years due to pipeline vandalism.
Le directeur général de PTI, Henry Adimula, a révélé que l’institut avait développé un système de surveillance intégré antivol d’huile.
Un robot de corrosion et une intelligence artificielle (IA) aideront à la détection précoce de la corrosion localisée et empêcheront la perte d’intégrité des installations, a-t-il déclaré.
La NNPC travaillera avec l’institut pour déployer la technologie afin de renforcer la surveillance de ses pipelines afin de lutter contre le vol de pétrole brut, a déclaré le directeur général du groupe, Mele Kyari.
Earlier, NNPC's chief financial officer, Umar Ajiya, said the company was losing nearly $150 million to vandalism every two days.
