Senegal: Petrosen announces the arrival of the FPSO Leopold Sedar Senghor on the Sangomar field.

In an official communication to the media, the PETROSEN Group has announced the arrival of the floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO) named Léopold Sédar Senghor (LSS) in the Sangomar oil field area on February 10, 2024. The vessel's arrival follows a long sea voyage that took it dozens of days across the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

The press release underlines the importance of this event, pointing out that the arrival of the FPSO LSS in Senegalese territorial waters represents a major milestone in the realization of the start of oil production in Senegal, scheduled for mid-2024. This milestone marks the crossing of a decisive threshold in the development of the country's oil resources.

The press release also mentions the many challenges encountered during the project's completion. Despite these obstacles, the State of Senegal, the PETROSEN Group and the WOODSIDE operator jointly succeeded in reaching this crucial phase, testifying to their ability to overcome the difficulties inherent in such a large-scale project.

The press release recalls that the FPSO LSS plays a central role in the operation of the Sangomar oil field. With an estimated production capacity of around 100,000 barrels of oil per day, this facility is a strategic pillar for the Senegalese oil industry, propelling the country into the exclusive circle of oil-producing nations.

The Group's recognition also extends to the FPSO's arrival on Senegalese territory, an exciting prelude to the imminent start of oil production in the country, as highlighted in the document.
